News - 20 coaching guides for track and field, rewritten
Our blog now focuses on track and field: guides on training load, ACWR, session RPE, readiness, tapering, deloads and training diaries in English, German and French.
Athlog was built for track and field, and from today our blog reads that way too. We have rewritten and expanded every coaching guide published since May 2025, 41 articles across English, German and French, so that each one speaks to coaches who run sprint, hurdles, jump, throw and middle-distance groups.
What changed
Every guide now uses track and field sessions as its examples: block starts, flying 30s, full-approach jumps, throws sessions next to heavy lifting, 1500 m tempo work and the long outdoor season with a meet every weekend. The generic football and cycling examples are gone.
The guides also got shorter headings, a FAQ section, a concrete "this week" action list and links to the related guides, so a coach can go from reading to the next session without hunting.
Where to start
- ACWR explained: the complete reference with a worked sprint-group week.
- Session RPE × minutes: how to calculate training load without wearables.
- The 30-second readiness check: five daily signals and what to change before the warm-up.
- Training diary: what to log daily: the five fields and the session details per discipline.
- Tapering in track and field: meet-week plans for sprints, jumps, throws and 800 m to 1500 m.
The full list is on the blog, grouped by training load, readiness and coaching workflows. If there is a topic you would like us to cover next, write to info@athlog.app.
